The first call from New York
Imagine it’s Wednesday afternoon and the phone rings. On the other end of the line? New York City! The enquiry: whether our livestream studio in Munich would be available for a spontaneous film shoot next Saturday. A documentary is to be filmed and the international team is stopping off in Munich this weekend. After a brief consultation with our team, it was clear: challenge accepted! We finalised all the details and prepared for the shoot.
The perfect setting for a documentary
The requirements for the setting of a documentary are somewhat different from those of a classic livestream. The interview guest sits comfortably on a chair and is filmed from different perspectives. The presenter, who asks the questions, usually remains out of the picture. So we set up exactly this setup in our studio in Munich – perfect for a professional film recording.
High-tech equipment: cameraman and sound technician in action
We provided an experienced cameraman and a sound engineer for the shoot. We recorded with three sound sources (two Sennheiser lavs and a Rode boom) and a frontal video in 4K with 23 frames, filmed in S-log 3. Of course, we made redundant recordings – one in the camera and one on the monitor to be on the safe side. We stretched and taped the background we brought with us in a frame so that no annoying creases were visible.
Shooting day at Studio Munich
Three days later, the time had come: Andy and Michael spent the whole day in the Munich studio recording interviews with four different guests. Between the recordings, the guests were able to fortify themselves with pretzels and fresh fruit in our cosy meeting room. A little moment of relaxation before the next exciting shoot.
Fast, efficient and professional
On Monday, everything was in the can and we handed over all the material to those responsible via our in-house cloud. It took less than a week from the first call to the data transfer. The result? A satisfied customer and a successful project that we are proud of. Now we’re looking forward to seeing the finished documentary for ourselves.
It can be that quick and uncomplicated when you work with a dedicated team and professional equipment. Do you also have a project that needs to be realised spontaneously? Our livestream studio in Munich is ready!
